Paintbox 95 is a free retro paint program in your browser. Draw with pixel tools and loud flat colors, or type an idea and watch Claude paint it stroke by stroke. Save a PNG or share it to the gallery.
Paintbox 95 brings back the simple paint program that came with every computer in the 1990s: jagged pixels, a 28 color palette, the airbrush and the fill bucket. Type an idea and Claude, the AI made by Anthropic, plans the picture and paints it with the same tools, one stroke at a time.
Before layers, filters and a thousand brush presets, there was Paint. A bucket that flooded the whole screen because you missed one pixel. An airbrush that made you feel like a graffiti legend. Stick figures, wobbly suns and your name in rainbow letters.
It's all back, jagged edges included. No undo anxiety though: Ctrl+Z works this time.
11 classic toolsPencil, brush, airbrush, bucket, shapes and text. Left click paints, right click uses the back color.

Paintbox 95 does not ask who you are and does not track you around the web. What you paint stays on your device, unless you use AI drawing or share a painting to the gallery.
There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising trackers and no cookies set by Paintbox 95. The only personal information we ask for is the email address you choose to give us in the newsletter box. To run AI drawing and the gallery we also keep the records described below.
If you subscribe, your email address is sent to Kit (kit.com), the service The Resonance uses for its mailing list, and added to The Resonance newsletter. We use it only to send you that newsletter. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time.
Your canvas lives in your browser while the page is open. When you save, the PNG goes straight to your device. We never receive a copy, unless you use AI drawing or share it to the gallery as described below.
If you use AI drawing, the idea you type is passed through our server and OpenRouter to Claude, the AI made by Anthropic, so it can plan the picture. If you choose to add to your current picture, an image of your canvas is sent too; we don't store that image. We keep a log of each request (the idea you typed, the plan Claude sent back, its cost and whether it worked) to run the service, control costs and stop abuse. The log is linked to a random ID kept in your browser and to a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address, never your name or your actual IP address. OpenRouter and Anthropic process requests under their own terms and privacy policies.
When you share a painting we store the picture, its name and the signature you choose, and give it its own link. Anyone with the link can see it, and if you leave "Show it in the public gallery" checked it can appear on the gallery wall too. To keep Paintbox family friendly, the ideas you type and the paintings you share are checked automatically, by our own filter and by Claude through OpenRouter, and may be hidden or removed. To have one of yours removed, contact The Resonance.
Paintbox 95 does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
If this policy changes, the new version will appear here with a new effective date.
Questions about this policy can be sent to The Resonance.
